Lost Animals features photographs of mammals and birds that are now extinct, but were photographed while they were still alive!
These photos date from the 1860s to the twentieth century when a small bird in Hawaii finally lost its battle for survival. Here are images of famous extinct creatures like the passenger pigeon, the thylacine, the ivory-billed woodpecker and the quagga, along with more obscure creatures such as the mamo or the Aldabra brush warbler.
